Guillaume Lambin, born in 1997, is a French photographer based in Divonne-les-Bains, near Geneva. Before devoting himself fully to photography, he worked for several years as a cook — a job that allowed him to travel widely and to immerse himself in a variety of cultures, landscapes and ways of life. These early nomadic experiences profoundly shaped the way he sees, nurturing an approach grounded in curiosity, respect and a sincere sensitivity to human stories. Photography came to him naturally along the way, becoming a language through which he could better understand the world and connect with others beyond words. Drawn to remote territories and the communities that inhabit them, Guillaume developed a particular interest in Central Asia — a region he considers one of the last places where traditional ways of life remain closely bound to the land and to the rhythm of nature. In 2024, he set out on a long motorcycle journey across this vast, still little-known region. He crossed mountains, valleys, isolated villages and forgotten borderlands, stopping to share meals, stories and moments of silence with the people he met. This first immersion gave rise to a desire to return — to look further, to understand better. In August 2025, he returned to Tajikistan, to the Pamir Mountains, a region hemmed in between Afghanistan and China. There he devoted himself to documenting the daily life of the Pamiri people, a warm, resilient and dignified community living at the heart of one of the most striking mountain ranges in the world. This second journey inspired the series “Silent Kinship”, an intimate exploration of the quiet but deep bonds that connect human beings to their environment — and the photographer to his subject. Guillaume works exclusively on 35 mm black-and-white film, which he develops and scans himself, by hand. This choice is not merely aesthetic: it reflects his attachment to authenticity, to imperfection, and to a slower, more conscious relationship with time — echoing the landscapes and lives he photographs. Each image becomes a fragment of silence, a delicate and sincere trace of a human encounter. Today, Guillaume continues his work with the same approach: slow, immersive, respectful and deeply attentive. Far from stolen images or distant narratives, his photography seeks closeness, trust and emotional depth. For him, Central Asia remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration — a vast space of beauty to which he returns to explore the invisible threads woven between landscapes, faces and the gestures of everyday life.
